School Volunteer Approval
ALL Campus Coaches and guest speakers MUST re-register as a volunteer every school year. If you registered last year, you must re-apply this year. Please take ten minutes and follow these simple instructions and register as a school volunteer (mandatory for level one security screening) BEFORE school starts up.
Here’s how it’s done:
Broward County• Go to
www.getinvolvedineducation.com and click on “Online Volunteer Application” at the top of the page.
• Click on the first yellow box at the lower left side that reads “Next” (I am over 18 years of age and want to volunteer..)
• In order to go any farther you must check the box giving the Broward County School Board the right to do a criminal background check of you.
• Begin filling in appropriate information (Social Security # is not mandatory and should not be given)
• When you get to the question “How recruited” – check off “Employer”
• When you get to “Preferred grade level” – check both “6-8” and “9-12” (which will allow you to go to both High Schools and Middle Schools)
• “School Preference” – Choose the school(s) in which you spend most time
• “Availability” – keep it simple list one or two days and times
• “Areas of Interest” – check “Classroom Speaker” and “Student Clubs/Activities”
• Look over your sheet to make sure all information is correct and if it is, print out a copy and then type “yes” in the box on the left and re-enter your Florida Driver’s license number in the box on the right. Then press “Submit my Application”
• Now you’re done – in one week you can call the school you chose as primary and ask to speak with the Staff Liaison for Volunteers to check on your approval.
• If you’re approved, show up at your school and present your Driver’s License – tell the staff person that you would like a Volunteer Badge (good for all year) as opposed to a visitor’s badge which grants access only a day at a time.
• Hold on to your Volunteer Badge as a duplicate will not be issued. This badge gives you access to all Broward County Schools.
