Welcome (2mins)

Say: Welcome to Equip Week! We are so excited to come together each Equip Week to study how to share the Gospel with our friends here at school! Today we are going to talk about God, What is God like? and how do we share about Him with our friends?

Icebreaker* (Alphabet In Your Pocket) (8mins)

Ahead of time: Prepare multiple sheets of paper with the Alphabet written down the side with space to fill in words besides each letter.

Say: Alright now we are going to play a game that requires us to split up into teams! Go ahead and form teams of four or five people.

Divide into teams of 4 or 5 students and hand each team an Alphabet sheet.

Say: Ok, now when I say go you will have 3 minutes to go through your backpacks, wallets, purses or whatever you have brought with you and try to find as many items as you can that begin with each letter of the alphabet. The team that has the most letters after three minutes will win! Alright Ready. Set. Go!

Set your phone or stopwatch for three minutes and allow the students to search for objects. After three minutes tally up the amount of items and award the winning team their prize.

Lesson (6mins)

Say: Today we are going try and answer a huge question… really this question is too big to answer in just a few minutes but we are going to go over some of the highlights!…

What is God like?? The very first sentence in the Bible says:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” -Genesis 1:1

Before anything existed, God was there. He is eternal, He has no beginning and no end. He is all-powerful, all- knowing, and present everywhere. God spoke and, out of nothing, He created the heavens and the earth. He created everything everywhere! Because of this He is in authority over all things, and all things are under His control! He is King over all creation! God is perfectly good, infinitely powerful and relentlessly loving towards us!

What stands out in all of this is God’s goodness. All morality revolves around Him. God has never done an evil thing or had an evil thought. He is good and because of that we can trust Him, He does not have the capacity for evil, He is trustworthy in every way.

God is worthy of all of our praise and affection. He is worthy of all glory and honor and we should praise Him for His goodness and glory. God is the only being allowed to be self –centered…because the universe literally revolves around Him! He loves to receive the praises of man, and we can honor God in worship.

The Bible also tells us that God is love and He made humanity in His image so that we could love, worship, and glorify God forever. He created us to love Him and be in relationship with Him. He loves us so crazy passionately that He sent His Son Jesus to rescue us so we could have a relationship with Him. Every concept of love that we have originates in God! 1 John tells us…

“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” -1 John 4:7-10

So when we talk about God, a good way to sum Him up, if that is even possible, is this: God is perfectly good, infinitely powerful and relentlessly loving towards us!

Say: How can we share what God is like with our friends?

Allow students to respond

Say: Why is it so important to know what God is like? How do we know?

Allow students to respond

3 Crowns Training (7mins)

Say: Did anyone get a chance to share 3Crowns this week?

If so let them share their experience for a moment.

Say: Let’s watch this video together that goes over some of what we just talked about and how it relates to the 3Crowns.

Open the 3 Crowns page on the website www.firstpriority.cc/3crowns

Show Video 2: THE 1ST CROWN: God is our Loving Creator and King

Say: Lets break into pairs, everyone make sure you have a blank piece of paper and a pencil. Imagine that your partner is a friend who has never heard the Gospel. Take turns and practice sharing the 3 Crowns Gospel Presentation with your partner, focus on sharing that God is perfectly good, infinitely powerful and relentlessly loving towards us!

Given them a few minutes to practice.

In-Prayer Time (7mins)

Handout the prayer cards and have the student list five names of school friends that they know are not Christians.

Say: Fill out these cards with the names of five friends who you know don’t know Jesus. If you talk to God about your friends, you are more likely to talk to your friends about God and we know that He wants to rescue our friends! We are going to spend a few minutes praying for these friends that they would come to Proclaim Week to hear the GOSPEL and that the Lord would work on their hearts and reveal Himself to them!

Have students call out the first names of each friend on their prayer card and write all of the first names on the classroom’s board (chalk, dry erase, digital). Then break into small groups and take a few seconds to pray for each name on the board. For the sake of time you may want to assign sections of the board to different groups.

Say: When we go home today place your Prayer Card in a prominent place in your life like your bathroom mirror, the front of your binder or even tape it to your phone charger as a reminder to be praying this week for our lost friends!

Planning Time (5mins)

Say: What are some things we can do to make next week’s Proclaim Week the most effective it can be?

Let students share a few ideas

Ex: (Give away candy with invite cards for Proclaim Week to everyone in the hallways)

Say: It is important to invite our friends to come out next week to hear the GOSPEL! We will have a party with food and games for them to enjoy. During the party –SPEAKERS NAME- will share the GOSPEL in a clear way and give your friends the opportunity to make a decision to follow Jesus!

Prepare the students for next week’s Proclaim Week. Make sure there are posters up and an announcement submitted to be made over the pa/tv or however announcements are communicated at your school. (The teacher sponsor can help with this).

Announcements* (2mins)

Display announcement slides

Say: We have lots of different church options if you don’t have a home church check out the ones here on the screen. If you don’t see your church listed let me know. We will see you next week at Equip Week! We are excited to have you join us as we discuss the question of “What is Truth?” Be sure to be there… and feel free to invite some friends!
